Asset manager Kotak Mahindra says lower global oil prices and easing inflation levels will keep Indian bond yields in tighter ranges and put more pressure on long-term yields. A big bull market is coming if Nifty doesn’t fall in the next 2-3 months: Nithin Kamath

Given the number of investors, both in India and abroad, who are still willing to bet big on India’s growth story, Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath believes we could be dealing with a big bull market provided Nifty doesn’t fall in the next 2-3 months . However, he also warned that the “sharp rally in the bear market” in the US may not last for long, which in turn will also affect India.

On the technical front, Nifty formed a positive candle on the daily chart and is close to challenging a life high. Trendline resistance adjacent to the highs of October 21st, January 22nd and April 22nd has been breached and is trading comfortably above it. Against this background, one can expect the current rally to extend immediately towards 18100-18150 levels. Similarly, the support base has now shifted to a higher range from 17,500 to 17,550 (gap support). Although the Momentum oscillator is trading in overbought conditions, no signs of exhaustion can be seen so far, rather it was supportive with the weekly RSI breakout after the 6-month downtrend line. The breadth of the market has seen a marked improvement, indicating broader market participation across sectors.

Market view: Dr. F. K. Vijayakumar, Senior Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services

The Fed meeting minutes indicate a continuation of the hawkish stance and that may slightly affect sentiment in the parent market, the US. However, this is not likely to affect bullish sentiment in India since the resurgence of FIIs has completely changed the market mood and the bulls are now calling things in. Possibly buying on dips in the near term.

From a fundamental perspective, there are no incentives to lift the market much from current levels due to the lack of comfort in valuation. Nifty is now trading around 21 times its FY23 earnings. The market appears to be counting on continued good GDP and earnings growth this year and next. If the growth momentum keeps capital goods, cars will attract more purchases.
