Applications are open for the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program 2022. The Miller Center is seeking applications for accelerator programs or entrepreneurs working on women’s economic empowerment and/or climate resilience because of your tremendous impact on poverty eradication.

If you’re leading a mission-driven social enterprise looking to scale a proven impact model, you’ve come to the right place! Miller Center’s globally recognized Silicon Valley accelerator programs help leaders develop pathways for expansion and prepare for next-level investment.

The Miller Center Accelerator is designed for high-potential social enterprises with proven traction, working on women’s economic empowerment, climate resilience, or the intersection of both. This 6-month accelerator program combines mentorship with a structured curriculum to help social entrepreneurs address gaps in their impact model, business model, and growth strategies, ultimately moving them along the path toward growth, scale and investment.

  • Effect model: View the problem. The theory of change. Useful results. Check the solution. Customer adoption and usage rates.
  • business model: Unit economics, average selling price (ASP), gross margin/contribution. Revenue and expense drivers. Break-even point, profit and loss (P&L) and cash flow. Core business growth rate.
  • Marketing and Sales Strategy: Target market, opportunity size, local market dynamics, value proposition and channel. Sales efficiency/efficiency. Product differentiation, competitive barriers, market expansion.
  • Growth Plan and Financial Forecast: strategic initiatives. Critical technology, capacity requirements. Expected efficiency/effectiveness of results.
  • Scalable processes: Key Metrics/Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Reporting of Results. Quality and reliability measures. Capacity and automation requirements. Organizational Structure.
  • Fundraising strategy and plan: Financing amount. type of capital. use of funds. Investor’s return on investment and the impact of ROI. Due diligence folder.

eligibility – eligibility

The applicant must

  • Be a great leader (eg, CEO, CEO, Managing Director);
  • English language proficiency;
  • Enjoy stable and reliable access to your Internet connection;
  • Get access to the program duration of 6 months, which requires an average of 4-6 hours/week.

organization requirements

  • Committed to creating positive benefits for people living in poverty, and addressing one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
  • Is it a social enterprise that aims to support women’s economic empowerment, resilience to climate change, or the intersection of both?
  • Committed to expanding their solution beyond current operations
  • It has been operating for at least a year and provides products/services to customers
  • Has at least $20,000 in annual earned income and is not entirely dependent on contributions or grants
  • Has at least 3 full-time paid employees (or equivalent)
  • Has at least 3 months of cash flow.

  • Climate resistance: Social institutions meet the needs of those living in poverty and those who suffer disproportionately from climate change. Their areas of focus related to climate resilience fall into one of the following three categories:
    • Energy – Providing access to modern, reliable, sustainable and affordable energy
    • Water – Ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation
    • Climate-Smart Agriculture – Implementing sustainable food production systems and resilient farming practices to increase productivity and production
  • Women’s Economic Empowerment: Social institutions that focus on women’s economic empowerment can be identified through one or more of the following areas (ideally all four):
    • Social entrepreneurship leaders: The primary participant is defined as a female founder, CEO, or other high-ranking leader with decision-making power.
    • employees: The business model deliberately creates more employment opportunities for women within the organization.
    • Contributors to the value chain: The organization creates increased business opportunities for women along its value chain (for example, using a village sales agent model that is more suitable for villagers’ lifestyles or purchasing products made by women).
    • Client: Mostly female clients by design. In this case, the term “customers” refers to those who are positively affected by the organization.
