AmCham Africa Digital Innovation Competition 2022 for African Startups ($25,000 cash prize)

as part of Digital Economy Summit 2022, US Chamber of Commerce African American Business Center (USAfBC) In conjunction with AmChams Across Africa, it hosts its annual events Digital Innovation Competition for African Startups. The competition targets digital SMEs and startups looking to facilitate the delivery of digital, cross-border, interoperable, and cross-domain services and solutions, while accelerating their digitally enabled growth.

Digital Innovation Competition It will reward innovators, entrepreneurs and startups to develop solutions through digital products and services while making a positive impact on African citizens. This competition seeks to enhance talent in the African region through social impact and digital initiatives that integrate cutting-edge technologies, innovation and creativity in the form of proposals that formulate solutions to various problems and opportunities in the region.

In-kind services may include laptops, annual subscriptions to digital platforms, mentoring services, and digital marketing/advertising for the top three competition winners. The top three winners will also be presented with a virtual platform to connect with mentors and participants during the Digital Economy Summit on December 7, 2022.

The competition will focus on three broad thematic areas:

  1. Fintech and cyber solutions: Covering data flow, cross-border digital platform solutions, mobile technology, IP management, cybersecurity, and the digital movement of the creative arts (movies, music, and art).
  2. Sustainability and Supply Chain SolutionsCovers smart manufacturing, e-commerce, managing shared economies, digital supply chain optimization, and logistics solutions for e-commerce and agricultural technology (AgTech) companies.
  3. Human development and social services solutions: Covering digital health solutions and e-learning platform.


To be eligible, an applicant (or a startup company) must:

  • Be a startup or innovator with at least 51% African ownership
  • Must be registered/registered with the appropriate body in the country, for example, the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
  • Not be a government agency, public administration, political or non-profit organization of any kind African Digital Entrepreneurship Competition 2022
  • The startup must be based in an African country.
  • The startup must be no more than five (5) years old and not be part of brand or license agreements for distribution in a different country
  • Not be a business engaged in any illegal activity that is not on the US Treasury Sanctions List

Grand prize

The total grand prize package is $25,000. This includes $15,000 in prize money, a 6-month mentorship with a Fortune 500 Tech company and a 1-year subscription to digital tools/platforms.
